The 14 in MacBook Pro What We Expect
Hello. How’s the weather?
First of all, these are no leaks. These are just predictions based on Apple’s design language and the way they have been doing things. This also includes some leaks like the M1X. And this mac is not said to be featuring the touchbar.
Timeline
Apple usually changes the design every 4 years. So technically we were supposed to see a change in 2020 but we got the M1 MacBooks there and Apple wanted to highlight the processors there and the design would have caused a few problems to getting attention to the chips but now we are in the clear for a redesign. We have got no leaks for the MacBooks as such so we can’t say exactly one. That does indicate it will be later We may start seeing leaks and stuff around WWDC which leads to the MacBooks coming out around September-November 2021.
Design
This one is pretty easy apple has been switching their products to a similar design language boxy squared off edges iPad pro like reduced bezels and curved corners as seen on the iPad Pro and Air or the iPhone 12 series. Obviously, the MacBook will be thinner. And so will be the bezels now due to these reduced bezels the size available for keyboard and trackpad will reduce. Now this may lead to a change as Apple has almost always kept a full-size keyboard even on the 12 inch MacBook (imagine if that got apple silicon that would be almost perfect cause it is very tiny anyways) and Apple also pretty much includes a very large trackpad. So, they may end up making the display a little bit taller. About that display.
Display
We have been seeing many leaks about this one. Apple switching over to a mini-LED display with higher brightness of 800–900 nits which increases the local dimming zone and offers offer higher contrast, deeper blacks, improved brightness, and better power efficiency like the OLED displays without the drawbacks like OLED burn in. The display would be a bit taller than 16:10 aspect ratio more like 16:11.something. And will have a screen size of 14 inches.
Ports
Yes, we may have more ports on the MacBook (Exclaiming with Joy!) And here is what we may see is
6 USB-C (Gen 4) Ports
An SD card slot
HDMI (Apple Silicon has issues with using USB-C for external displays so an HDMI port for connecting another display)
A magsafe port (Magnetic propriety charging port by Apple).
M1X
Performance is something that apple silicon is known for. We’ll be seeing a better version of M1 chips which were already very efficient, fast, powerful and cool.
The leaks say that the M1X is set to come with 12 CPU cores, featuring eight high-performance ‘Firestorm’ cores and four efficient ‘Ice Storm’ cores.
